The boot that has it all

When you thought you had seen it all, you hadn't. I witnessed this treat this morning at the bus stop. Over the knee biker wellington boots. So bad that I didn't get a proper look at the rest of the outfit, just stood there happily snapping away on my phone in sheer disbelief. I love how taking pictures and texting looks the same to anyone looking at you, just pretend to 'scroll' every now and then.

I don't care how ridiculous they look, I'll be wearing my UGGs day and night over the next week as it is FREEZING. I swore years ago that I would never buy a pair, and I didn't, my mum bought them for me. She did try to get me the purple, wedge, asymmetric, embroidered pair with a tassel but I insisted that the black ones were more practical. It's been a year now and I am very grateful for having toasty feet, even if I do look a little un-sexy.

Ah! A nice quiet evening in on my own, catching up on the red carpet special on E! covering the Screen Actors Guild Awards. I almost choked on my spicy chicken broth when I realised that the woman being interviewed, Mayim Bialik (Big Bang Theory), was the star of one of my most beloved kids TV shows, Blossom! Nostalgic memories came flooding back of the early nineties opening credits to the show, where she changes outfit about 10 times (see video below). Anyway, the point of this post is that I was actually drawn in by her vivid and blingin' frog bracelet by Nini Jewels, some may call it garish but I thought it was dazzling!

Think Pink

Just sharing my view from the bus stop this morning with you. I didn't have to look far for entertainment at 08.30am whilst standing in a chilly queue, it came and stood in front of me. Yes, she really is wearing a pink coat, pink hat, pink scarf, pink gloves, pink backpack, and a pink umbrella in the backpack, she even had a cute little pink iPod Nano! Would you believe me if I said she was also wearing luminous yellow leg warmers? Believe it!

Girl About Town

Cameron Diaz has been a busy bee in Paris this week, attending the S/S 12 Haute Couture shows, whilst looking chic in monochrome. Of all the celebs to attend Paris Couture week her presence has been most notable and most frequent. She is either researching for a new role or getting first dibs on a dress for the red carpet... From left at the Versace show, at the Dior show, at the Chanel Show, at the Armani Privé show and at the Valentino show.

Return of Versace Haute Couture

Versace showcased its S/S 12 Haute Couture collection today in Paris after going AWOL for the past 8 years, perhaps Donatella's recent triumph with the Versace for H&M collaboration an indicator to the returning strength of the brand. The heft of the collection was of soft putty colours punctuated by a handful of zingy citrus looks with structured corseting and curves of gold metal work. I expect to see many of these pieces on the red carpet as Awards season gets into full swing.

Divine Inspiration

Whilst flicking through Vogue's 'The Collections spring/ summer 2012' supplement on the train this morning I noticed a striking similarity to Kurt Geiger's Harlequin Boot and Jason Wu's Bryce Boot. I have to say that the inspired version actually gets my vote, très sexy without being slutty and no platform, perfect. I'll have to wait though, not in the shops quite yet! Red Carpet Accessories

There were an excellent selection of accessories on the red carpet at the 2012 Golden Globes, including Uggie the dog from triple Golden Globe winner, The Artist. In many cases the stars let the jewels do the talking, a la Heidi Klum in eye catching turquoise jewels standing out from her simple, nude Calvin Klein dress. From top left Yvonne Strahovski's clutch from Kotur® union for J. Crew, Zooey Deschanel's clutch from Prada, Taylor Armstrong's clustered ring and bracelet, Tilda Swinton's matching Fred Leighton cuffs, Uggie the dog in a dashing bow tie, Elle Macpherson's Lorraine Schwartz stacked bangles, Nicole Richie's bangles from Neil Lane, Heidi Klum's Lorraine Schwartz rings.

I wasn't exactly wowed by this years Golden Globes red carpet offerings, most of the A listers bored me (the exceptions being Tilda Swinton and Zooey Deschanel) which provided the perfect opportunity to let the lesser known talent shine. Clockwise from left, Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann, Emma Stone in Lanvin, Nora Arnezeder in Giorgio Armani, Zooey Dechanel in Prada, Romola Garai in Alessandra Rich, Mirielle Enos in Naeem Khan and Maria Menounos in Blumarine.

Okay, so I am obsessed with Whistles...

It's not my fault! They keep making dresses that I want to buy! I bought ANOTHER long sleeve, knee length fitted dress (I can hear you yawning), the Daryl Stripe Column Dress. I already have one in autumnal black, orange and red which has saved me when I've gotten out of bed too late and am in a rush to get dressed. This one is cream, navy and emerald and I hope it serves me as well over the coming months. Its my first official purchase for the new season and, if it arrives in time, will be parading itself with chunky gold jewellery, nude ankle boots and a generous slick of royal blue eyeliner at a 30th birthday this Saturday. I did say I wouldn't be doing any sale shopping but it was a snatch at £45.00 down from £75.00, plus does it count if it was actually something I had already earmarked to buy for Spring? Image

90's Denim

I know its only January but I'm already scouting out what to buy for Spring. Get ahead of the fash pack and stock up on pale and light denim now, by the time August comes around it will be too passé and filtering down to the chavs. Expect to see ALOT of it at London Fashion Week in February. Perfection, perfection, perfection

images Channel 4,,

Location, Location, Location made a welcome return to Channel 4 tonight, but, it wasn't the matching necklaces on the gay couple that caught my attention, it was Kirstie Allsopp's old school gold jewellery and power prints. I've always admired her fifties silhouette, the way she stays true to classic shapes and an unmistakeable personal style. I totally agree with the queen of day dressing on owning a great fitting dress in every colour, I'm not one to waste time putting together separates early in the morning. Kirstie has found solace in Samantha Sung's Audrey dress and was sporting at least 6 different variations on her series, Kirstie's Hand Made Britain, on Channel 4 last month. I've also done some research into her fabulous vintage-esque jewellery and have discovered that many of her pieces are from Monica Vinader. New Year, New Me

Well, the same me but an improved model. I sat up this morning and realised I will be 30 this year. Now, I'm not going to start moaning about turning 30, I'm ready to leave my 20's behind and embrace being happier in my skin and more chilled. I also want to leave 2 stone in weight behind. I have tasked myself 6 months to do this, no fad diets, just plenty of exercise and healthy eating (and maybe less drinking). I did lose 2 stone a couple of years ago through a combination of smoking, ending a long term relationship and working 7 days a week as a fashion intern and shop assistant. This time round I'm a non-smoker, in a loving relationship, at a sedentary desk job 5 days a week, lording it up on fancy dinners and over socialising at weekends. I headed to the Chinese supermarket yesterday to stock up on ingredients to aid the healthy eating regime, oriental cuisine has tons of flavour with little  or no fat and I hope this will help me through this testing time. I have until my 30th birthday to get in shape and dare to wear something slinky and revealing at the party... Suggestions on a postcard please.

Back to school

In protest at going back to work after a fabulous Christmas and New Year's break, and on such a depressing wet day, I am wearing just black and grey. Grey skirt, grey tights, grey crew neck merino sweater, grey handbag, black coat and black UGGs. The only glimmer of hope is in my magenta umbrella. January and February are the most depressing time of year in my book. Doom and Gloom!
